Geography Bee
National Geographic Geography Bee
Each year, Holy Rosary participates in the National Geographic Society's national Geography Bee. Preliminary completions are held in each 6th - 8th grade homeroom. The homeroom winners and other top scorers advance to the school finals. The school Bee produces a school winner, who then takes a written exam to try to qualify for the statewide Bee held in Indianapolis. Only the top 100 scores on the qualifying test advance to the state Bee. The winner of the state Bee continues on at the national Bee, held in Washington, D.C.
Spelling Bee
Spelling Bee
The Holy Rosary spelling bee is held in December. Spelling bees are held in each homeroom prior to the school spelling bee. Participants include two students from each homeroom in grades 4 through 8, who have qualified in their homeroom bees. The winner of the school spelling bee goes on to compete in the Vanderburgh County Bee which is held in February, with winners reaching the State competition. Winners at the state level will compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. at the end of May.
