Curriculum: Music Print
All students in Grade K-8 at Holy Rosary School take Music Classes. 

Students in Grades K-5 study standard based curriculum in General/Choral Music.  Students in Grades 6,7, and 8 have the option of taking band classes.  All students in Grades K-8 participate in the Holy Rosary School’s Advent Program which includes musical performances within the structure of an eighth grade scripture based play. All students participate in weekly liturgies and in special
prayer services such as May Crowning.

Extra-curricular Music options are

  • Gr. 5-8 Participation in the ISSMA Music Contests piano/vocal/instrumental
  • Holy Rosary School Talent Show (May 6, 2009 @ 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria)
  • Performances and workshops by Guest performing artists and professional musicians such as Tales and Scales
  • Holy Rosary Parish Youth Bell Choir (currently Gr. 4-7)

Music Curriculum Highlights are

  • Gr. K - participate by singing at a special Kindergarten Mass, benefit from performances by guest musicians
  • Gr. 1 & 2 – Symphony of Color music appreciation/ art design project (art/music integrated unit)
  • Gr. 3 - Design and create an original musical instrument and perform music with it in an ensemble
  • Gr. 4 - learn to play the soprano recorder and perform at a Mass or special concert
  • Gr. 5 - continue developing skills in playing recorder, perform at a Mass or special concert instrument units, create and perform original commercials
  • Gr. 6 - Composer unit/technology based research/ create original TV show featuring music
  • Gr. 7 - study of music elements/listening skills/musicals/vocal technique. Design an original music review game.
  • Gr. 8 - Advent Program preparations/cantor for Mass/study of styles of music
