Self-Contained Classroom

All day program

We are a building blocks and 4-block school in the K-2 area.

Goals:
1. Maintain a positive learning environment where all children grow and develop.
2. Instill the enjoyment of written language using all genres.
3. Create an awareness of the fascination of the world of numbers.
4. Build a Christian community based on the teachings of our Lord.

Children Will:
1. Learn to ask "What would Jesus want me to do?"
2. Learn an endless love of books
3. Learn that the spoken work can be expressed through writing
4. Learn the importance and the application of numbers in their lives.
5. Learn to stretch their minds for unlimited learning.
6. Learn to love to learn.

Reading Skills

  • Recognizes first name
  • Shows interest in reading daily by: recognizing last name, participating in morning letter
  • Copies first name
  • Recognizes familiar names and words
  • Writes first name independently – using proper form
  • Creates class boos and materials
  • Writes last name independently – using proper form
  • Participates in silent “reading”
  • Follows left to right progression
  • Understands and uses letter/sound correspondence
  • Recognizes rhyming sounds
  • Names and reads colors (red, yellow, green, orange, blue, purple, brown, black)
  • Reads presented sight words

Religion

  • Knows Sign of Cross
  • Knows The Lord’s Prayer
  • Knows The Good Morning Prayer
  • Participates in religion class discussions

  • Recites prayers with classmates

Fine Motor

  • Uses crayons with control

Mathematics
